Internet Exchange Messaging Server
Preprocessor FAQ
Overview
The Internet Exchange Messaging Server Preprocessor
(both Enterprise and Workgroup versions) is an integrated subsystem of the MTA with a
highly scalable architecture. Each of the unit's programs is a plug-in module that
can be run on separate machines, ensuring efficient utilization of computing resources and
maximum throughput. This capability also guarantees that the system can easily be
scaled to cope with the changes in the messaging needs of an organization. In
addition, the Preprocessor Unit incorporates an open API that permits the development of
third-party or custom processing modules. Communication between the different
Preprocessor Unit's modules is carried out via Remote Procedure Calls (RPC's) over TCP/IP.
