The headers and footers of the preview and menu panes can be customized by using html/plain text files or running site defined executable programs. The headers and footers can be further separately defined for multiple domains in case the Internet Exchange Messaging Server is set to handle multiple domains. The headers and footers are applicable to both menu and body of the Web Mail Client Interface.
Principles Of Operation
The Inbox and the Outbox displays the summary information of the incoming and outgoing mailbox, respectively. New as well as old messages are listed accordingly with the corresponding authors, date and time of receipt, subject heading and file size. The Inbox also contains an option to delete, copy or move a corresponding mail to a predefined folder. To compose new mail messages, users are provided with a blank form that allows them to freely compose messages. Aside from composing mail messages, the Web Mail Client is also capable of replying to the messages it receives. Users have the option to reply, reply all or forward a particular message to several people. To Reply to a sender, click the Reply link at the bottom of the page and a new page will be displayed to let the user Reply to the email message. If the user wishes to reply to all of the people listed in the "From", "To" and "Cc" fields. ("From" field contains only one address) they can click the Reply All link at the bottom of the page. To Forward a message to another person, click the Forward link at the bottom of the page. Type the name of the recipient at the 'To' field then click on the Send Button to send the mail message. The Web Mail Client displays a hyperlink to download file attachments. It displays the content-type of the message's body part as well as the name of the attachment on the screen. After displaying the file attachment on the screen, the user is prompted to save the file on the disk. The Web Mail Client allows users to delete messages from the folders allowing them to maintain content within folders. Users can easily move forward or backward when reading messages by using the navigation tools of the Web Mail Client. The Folders hyperlink of the Menu Frame displays summary information of all the available folders contained in a mailbox. It also displays summary information for all messages of a particular folder. A check box is provided for every message in the folder to allow users to mark specific messages. Once message/s are selected from the folder, the user can automatically perform the different functions such as deleting the messages or moving/copying all the marked messages to another folder. The Web Mail Client displays the total number of message and total number of unread messages next to the name of the folder. If the user selects the particular folder, the number of unread messages will appear beside the title of the Web Mail Client Header. This feature helps determine how many messages are stored in the mailbox. It also informs the user if unread messages are present in the mailbox. Users can select or deselect all the messages in a folder by clicking just one button. Once the Select All Messages button is clicked, all the messages listed in the particular folder will be selected. Users have the option to delete, copy or move the selected messages to another destination or folder. To deselect the messages, click on the Deselect All Messages button and the messages will automatically be deselected. The Web Mail Client includes allows users to log in using another login account. This can be done when they click the Login hyperlink from the Menu Bar of the Web Mail Client. The current user will be logged out from the Web Mail Client allowing a new user to log in to the system.
