Internet Exchange Frequently Asked Questions
Internet Exchange Distribution List Manager
Automatic Mailing List Unsubscription
Introduction
The Internet Exchange Distribution List Manager
handles unsubscription requests by automatically removing the member from the mailing
list, upon receipt of a formal request by email. If first checks to see if the
sender is a registered member of the mailing list. If not, the DL Manager logs
an error indicating that the sender is not a member of the requested mailing list.
If the DL Manager verifies that the sender is a registered list member, the sender
is automatically removed from that list.
Unsubscription
Procedure
In order to unsubscribe from an Internet Exchange
Distribution List, the subscriber sends a simple message to the list owner address.
By convention, the list owner is list-request@domain.com
where list@domain.com is the mailing list
submission address. The subscriber sends a message to this address, with a Subject
specified as unsubscribe.
If the distribution list is an open list, the Distribution List Manage
will automatically remove the user from the requested list, after first confirming the
subscription.
