Internet Exchange Messaging Server
Batch SMTP FAQ

Introduction
The Internet Exchange Messaging Server Batch SMTP supports the tunneling of Internet email across non-SMTP message transports, such as POP3.  The Batch SMTP Encoder also allows the encoding or tunneling of mail directed to a single address or a complete domain to a predefined Internet address where the proper decoding or detunneling takes place.   This destination address can be on an Internet Exchange Messaging Server or on any other server with an RFC-2442 compiant decoder installed.

The Batch SMTP Decoder works together win the POP3 Client module to pick up remote messages using the POP3 protocol.  It then detunnels the messages by reinjecting them into the Internet Exchange Messaging Server input queue.
